Draven Build Guide

Draven

Draven

the Glorious Executioner

Overview

Welcome to the League of Draven -- one of the most infamous bot laners in League of Legends thanks to the way he talks and carries himself (in-game), the bully nature of his kit, and for being tied to Tyler1. Draven is a champion with a high skill ceiling that rewards players for playing aggressively. Click here for the latest data on his best builds, including Runes, Items, Summoner Spells, and more.

Keys to Remember About Draven

  1. Draven needs to snowball early off of the extra gold he gets from his passive -- you should be thirsting for kills but making sure you don't die before you proc it.

  2. Sometimes it's easier as Draven to just literally stand there and deal damage, as it's easier to pick your axes back up when you're minimizing movement. This makes you easier to kill but sometimes the best defense is a good offense -- don't underestimate your ability to just stand there and kill someone.

Strengths

Draven players (if not Draven the champion) will always feel like they can carry the game because they do so much damage with their axes. He’s a champion built for players who want to try to snowball the game and then carry it on their backs thanks to his passive, League of Draven [P] rewarding him with extra gold as long as he’s able to cash out kills. And where else would people be dying if not bot lane? He’s a great duelist, even against solo lane champions, thanks to the damage on his Spinning Axes [Q] and the utility on his Step Side [E]. Whatever happens in your game, Draven is sure to be a part of much of the action.

Weaknesses

If you’re accustomed to playing an auto-attack heavy champion in bot lane, then you’re going to be caught off guard by the mechanic of catching his Spinning Axes [Q]. It’s a difficult thing to juggle (heh) in the middle of a team fight especially, but even early in lane it can be hard to maintain focus on your axes while still avoiding enemy skill shots and CSing. For this reason, a lot of ADC mains don’t actually have Draven in their arsenal. The axe landing location also telegraphs where he’ll be, making it easier for enemies to land their abilities, which they’ll be doing often in hopes of trying to shut him down before he cashes out on his passive.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: He’s a lane bully and is thus best paired with a support with kill potential early in the game. You’ll want to constantly try to trade with enemies as your axes will simply do more damage. If you can cash out, you can continue your snowball.

  2. Mid Game: You’ll want to build on advantages you gained in the early game -- in general he is a champion that should constantly look to fight, and this is especially true in mid game before teams are ready to coordinate and play together.

  3. Late Game: Draven still dishes out a lot of damage at this phase in the game but he’s going to struggle with
