Fiddlesticks Build Guide

Fiddlesticks

Fiddlesticks

the Ancient Fear

Overview

Why did the scarecrow win the League of Legends match? Because he was outstanding in his field. Heh. Fiddlesticks, true to his theme and lore, is a terror on the rift thanks to being leaving little clones of himself everywhere and thanks to his ultimate allowing him to jump onto enemies and delete the entire enemy team if they aren’t ready. Keys to Remember About Fiddlesticks

  1. Everything revolves around how good your Crowstorms [R] are -- you need to use vision to your advantage to jump over walls and ledges to catch the enemy team off guard. Consistently hitting good ultimates, even if your team is behind, will win you the game.

  2. You're extremely immobile after using your ultimate -- it's a one-way ticket into the fight, so just hard commit and hope that Bountiful Harvest [W] is enough to keep you alive.

Strengths

He’s a great team fighter thanks to Crowstorm [R] being one of the best AoE damage abilities in the game -- it’s great at starting fights and also great at counter-engaging if enemies become overeager for kills. This means he’s very good at contesting neutral objectives and at fighting enemies as they try to siege your towers. They need to keep tabs on his positioning at all times because if they clump and he lands on them, then the fight will be extremely difficult to win. Fiddlesticks also brings good utility to the table with a fear on his Terrify [Q] and Silence on his Reap [E] -- one of the few silencing abilities in the game.

Weaknesses

If enemies catch him mid-animation for his ultimate, they can CC him and prevent the cast from going off -- this will render him almost entirely useless in the fight and can instantly flip the game. This means he needs to be wary of teams that are good at securing vision, which becomes more and more true the higher you climb in ELO. Teams that constantly play around the potential of a Fiddlesticks engage can also spread out or commit to split pushing entirely -- anything that can limit team fights is going to limit Fiddle’s power. And at the end of the day, he’s an immobile mage that will die very quickly if you’re able to engage on him.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Fiddle can be counter jungled pretty effectively early if you’re not keeping tabs on the enemy. This means you should be trying to play towards the strong side of your map as much as possible. Once you hit level 6, you can look to gank.

  2. Mid Game: You’ll be very strong at this phase of the game -- even on just one or two items, a proper Crowstorm [R] can obliterate the enemy team. Your goal is to use fog of war to your advantage to catch enemies as they walk towards you.

  3. Late Game: At this point in the game, enemies will be wary of you, so it’s up to you to find lulls in their attention and focus to aim your ultimate. This means using fog of war and sometimes baiting your teammates -- even if they get the first pick, you can turn the fight.
