Overview
Pick a card, any card, as long as it’s yellow when we need it to be yellow. Twisted Fate is a champion with a long and storied champion and has found play in all three lanes on Summoner’s Rift. While the cards are what his entire aesthetic is built around, it’s his ultimate that is his signature as a champion. Keys to Remember About Twisted Fate
This is a champion for players with great map awareness -- you have the ability to completely dominate the game after you get your ultimate online if you are active with using it.
Late game, your ultimate providing vision of the enemy team makes it a very powerful utility tool. You can combo this with Zhonya's Hourglass and a yellow card to force the fight on any champion you want as long as your team is within range to follow up.
Strengths
Destiny is one of the strongest global abilities in the game in the hands of the right player and has undoubtedly been a major headache for Riot’s game balance team when it comes to adjusting his strength for pro play vs. Solo Queue. The ability to instantly apply pressure to the entire map the second he turns Level 6 makes even one lapse of attention a potentially game changing moment as TF can appear out of nowhere to ruin your day. Late game, he’s a split pushing menace who can also help you start fights by revealing exactly where all opponents are.
Weaknesses
He’s lacking in mobility throughout the entire game but it’s most noticeable in the early game before he has the ability to spam through his card rotations to be able to keep you at bay with a yellow card. That’s also his best way to keep you away early on, but it’s limited to hitting just one target, and the red card can be avoided if you keep your distance from your ally. And while TF can appear anywhere on the map, if you aren’t careful with how you use it, you might find yourself missing out on minion waves, which can be critical if you’re unable to find value with your Destiny.
Game Plan
Early Game: Farm safely with Wild Cards and Blue Card, which will restore your mana. As long as you aren’t super greedy with how you play the early phase, you can farm fairly safely and trade back if opponents decide to jump on you. Once you hit level 6, look to disappear into Fog of War constantly to threaten your ultimate. Bot lane is going to be the most valuable lane to gank.
Mid Game: You can start looking to split push at this point as you can join your team at any point they need you. You can also use your ultimate when both teams are jockeying for positioning around neutral objectives to give your team full vision of what the enemy is doing.
Late Game: Your team fighting isn’t bad but you’ll want to control the side waves as much as possible thanks to having Destiny. For fights, a common tactic for TF is to pull a Gold Card before using Destiny to appear next to an enemy carry. You typically want Zhonya’s Hourglass before committing to this play as it can otherwise backfire on you.
