Vayne Build Guide

Vayne

Vayne

the Night Hunter

Overview

Vayne is one of the OG champions for players who don’t trust their teammates and want to carry the game on the back of their superior mechanics. She has a ton of outplay potential thanks to being able to weave in and out with stealth, and is a dangerous carry to deal with in the hands of the right player. Keys to Remember About Vayne Bot

  1. Vayne is an excellent scaler, which means early game is about minimizing losses unless your support can give you a lot of priority.
  2. Taking duels can be risky as an ADC, but you have the ability to win a lot of them so long as you're able to Condemn the opponent into a wall.

Strengths

Vayne is known for being one of the best late game scalers in the game, but it’s more so that her kit offers a lot of room for creativity and outplay as opposed to champions like Smolder or Kayle that literally evolve into better champions as the game progresses. This means that Vayne can offer a lot of those outplay possibilities early as well, which means her scaling is tied to how mechanically skilled you are on her. Vayne bread-and-butter for damage is going to be her Silver Bolts, which procs every third attack against the same target -- being able to land these can create big spikes of damage for you to commit to a kill.

Weaknesses

She has short range for an ADC and many abilities that will frequently place you into danger. Having high potential for outplay also means you can outplay yourself, which makes her a champion to avoid if you are not confident in your mechanical prowess. This includes being able to track which CC is going to be dangerous to you and being able to dodge as much damage as possible with your rolls. The short range can also make lane phase difficult for her -- be careful blind picking her as you may be bullied out of the game before it even begins.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: You can secure some favorable trades with Tumble, but generally the ease of the lane is going to be dictated by your support. You can just aim to play safe and farm -- the clock is generally on the opponent to do something to you before you scale.
  2. Mid Game: Vayne excels at duels and can easily win even against higher level enemies -- the key is whether or not you’re able to land a stun with Condemn, but don’t be afraid to take isolated fights and skirmishes at this point.
  3. Late Game: You are often the strongest champion in the game at this point, and it might just take a couple of auto attacks and a Tumble with Final Hour up to secure kills. Vayne is great at catching lazy frontliners off guard with her damage, but against good teams you’ll want to play safe and fight font-to-back with your team
