Overview
Viktor is one of the premier mid lane mages when it comes to wave clear and zone control, as his abilities allow him to dominate space on the rift. He’s also able to use his kit from afar, which makes him a safe pick throughout the game, especially when he’s able to put his back to a friendly tower. Keys to Remember About Viktor
Viktor has great scaling thanks to Glorious Evolution [P] upgrading his abilities as the game progresses -- this means you should always believe in your ability to hyper carry the game if it goes late, as both your AoE and single target damage are good.
He has a ton of zone control with Gravity Field [W] and Arcane Storm [R], so be sure to play linebacker when it comes to fights. You can easily block off opponents from coming through a choke.
Strengths
Viktor is a champion with a lot of range on his abilities, and he scales well into late game thanks to Glorious Evolution [P] allowing him to slowly upgrade his abilities. Hextech Ray [E] in particular is the most difficult ability for enemies to deal with, as the range on the laser and the speed and angle at which it can approach from can be very tricky to read. This is amplified when he narrows his opponent’s movement options by dropping Gravity Field [W] and Arcane Storm [R] -- ideally you are landing all of them together with the W, but at worse, one ability missing should make the other easier to hit.
Weaknesses
He is lacking when it comes to mobility as he doesn’t have a dash to help him escape from danger. Siphon Power [Q] provides a small burst of movement speed, and that can sometimes be enough to get him out of trouble, but there are plenty of champions in the game that will have no issue engaging onto him if he’s not careful about where he chooses to step. Movement speed doesn’t matter if you are CCed! He’ll also need to be careful about falling behind early because if he falls behind in tempo for his passive, he’s going to lack the damage to burn through enemies come team fights.
Game Plan
Early Game: Look to farm -- you can double up and harass enemies with your laser if they step too far forward, but you should use your range to ensure that you can safely CS.
Mid Game: At this point, you can easily clear side waves and then move back to your team. You can rinse and repeat this until neutral objectives spawn, at which point you should aim to control choke points with your team.
Late Game: You scale really well into late game, and as long as you have items, you should be a big damage threat onto teams, especially if they choose to clump in tight corridors.
