Overview
The fabled monkey king is a champion with a lot of memes tied to him thanks to his popularity in lore with Chinese players -- most notable is his supposed level 2 power spike where he’s the strongest level 2 champion in the game (it’s true if you believe it to be so). Wukong is a champion that has seen a lot more presence in pro play since his rework, and that’s thanks to his ability to deal significant damage on his engages. Keys to Remember About Wukong
You'll have a lot of damage once you get your ultimate online, and that's going to keep you strong throughout the mid game, but eventually you're going to have a much harder time deleting enemy backlines, so if it goes late, be sure to weigh whether it's better to peel back and CC the enemy divers for your damage or if you can continue to dive (if you have partners who can go in with you).
Warrior Trickster [W] is the ability that's going to let you outplay opponents. You can sometimes fake use it by standing still, or you can combo it by stepping into a bush and then stealthing out the way you came from, for example.
Strengths
Like the mythical Sun Wukong himself, Wukong is a champion that comes with some trickery thanks to his Warrior Trickster [W], which allows him to stealth away in a pinch. This can create some misdirection on opponents chasing you, or it can let you stealth from fog of war and onto the enemy before they can even react to you. And once you are able to get onto an opponent -- especially a squishy one -- Wukong brings a lot of damage to the table in addition to some CC with his Cyclone [R]. When ahead, this means he’ll straight up assassinate backlines, and when behind, the disruption and CC can buy your team enough time to gain an advantage in the fight.
Weaknesses
Any sort of vision reveal can immediately disrupt his Warrior Trickster [W], which will leave him out to die, as he’s not the tankiest of champions. In fact, like many bruisers, he’s kind of the in the middle ground when it comes to both tankiest and damage, which is the kind of champion that is really hard to stop when they’re ahead, but if they’re even or behind, then there’s plenty of outplay potential. Wukong will also feel lacking once both charges of his Cyclone [R] are down, so if enemies aren’t killed during that duration, then it may very well be his head that’s on the chopping block.
Game Plan
Early Game: Look to farm as you won’t have much kill potential unless your opponents overextend and your laner has some way to lock them down. Once you hit level 6, though, you can easily get kills as long as you’re able to reach your target.
Mid Game: With your ultimate up, you’ll have good presence in team fights and should be looking for fights at objectives. All it takes is one overstep for you to be able to turn around with your Warrior Trickster [W] to then engage on your opponents with Cyclone [R].
Late Game: The pattern is going to be similar to mid game, though you are going to be much less likely to kill enemy carries with your first round of abilities at this point in the game. If there’s no follow up on dives, you may want to use your second Cyclone proc on retreating to your team.
