Orianna Build Guide

Orianna Build Guide

Overview

Orianna is for ballers… literally. Her entire kit revolves around moving a ball towards other champions and is one of the more visually straightforward champions in the game. A mid lane control mage, she brings strong wave clear and team fighting with her Shockwave being a signature ability for many big combos. Keys to Remember About Orianna

  1. Orianan is a control mage that is heavily reliant on being able to properly track where her ball is during the fight. Throwing the ball to an ally makes it easier to combo, but can also make you lose track of the range indicator on it.

  2. It can be just as effective, if not more so, to solo ulti a carry rather than waiting for a big multi-person catch.

Strengths

Orianna has one of the most game-changing ultimates in the game, thanks to Shockwave providing strong AOE damage and CC that clumps opponents to make it easy for your team to follow up. Shockwave syncs well with both Command: Attack and Dissonance, and it’s not rare for a fed Orianna to single handedly win a fight for your team. Combined with the utility that her Command: Protect provides, she has long been a staple, even in pro play, for teams that need some team fighting oomph from their mid laner.

Weaknesses

Her ultimate can, unfortunately, be rather difficult to hit properly -- there will be times where you only catch their tanks or you whiff altogether. In fact, the ability is so easy to spot that when you miss it, you can be sure everyone and their family will notice. We would absolutely not recommend this champion to people who’d feel anxious about embarrassing themselves. The ball in general can be hard to track in a fight, especially if you place the Protect on an ally and they dart out of range. And limited mobility, even a second of indecision can lead to death.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: Orianna has excellent poke capability thanks to being able to poke and prod with her ball. Her auto-attacks are also strong and you should be comfortable trading with enemies. She is prone to ganks, though, so be wary about overextending and focus more on playing safely.

  2. Mid Game: She provides strong wave clear but isn’t the most adept at pushing side waves -- you’ll want to stay fairly centralized to the map and look to team fight whenever possible.

  3. Late Game: Ori has great team fight potential and should always be on the lookout for a multi-person catch. She can be the one to open up a fight, but she is just as adept at following up on allies or countering enemy engages. She has big carry potential here and should be played as such.
