Keys to Remember About Ornn
Ornn scales great into end game thanks to Living Forge [P] -- you should prioritize your strong teammates when it comes to upgrading items. Beyond that, though, he's just a great tank that is fairly straight forward to play.
Call of the Forge God [R] can be interrupted by enemies, and you can flat out miss the headbutt to redirect it if you aren't careful. Your goal is to slow enemies with the initial call and then bowl them over with the headbutt -- it's a game changing ultimate when you're able to hit multiple key targets.
Strengths
He has good scaling between being a beefy tank, which are always welcome in late game, and thanks to his passive, Living Forge [P], which can upgrade his allies’ abilities. This means that as long as he’s able to farm in the early game and then join his team for fights, he’ll always provide good value if not more value than his lane counterparts. For team fights, he brings Call of the Forge God [R] to the table, which will help your team engage on enemies pretty much whenever you want -- it’s one of the best long range engage tools in the game.
Weaknesses
His early game is fairly weak, which means strong enemies can bully him and keep him under his turret. This means he’ll have low priority on his side of the map and can sometimes fall behind in CS, especially if he’s unable to manipulate the state of the minion wave in his favor. The reality, though, is he’s a fairly complete champion that doesn’t have too many glaring weaknesses outside of being a melee champion early -- and even then, he can fight back and set up ganks if the enemy jungler comes. If he’s lacking in anything, it’s damage, but that’s not his job as a tank to begin with.
Game Plan
Early Game: Farm as much as you can -- your goal is to scale into end game and then wait for your jungler to come gank for you. You don’t need to dominate lane as Ornn.
Mid Game: Manage side waves but look to join your team as much as possible for fights. A well aimed Forge God can win you many fights early on.
Late Game: You are going to feel unkillable, and you should use that confidence to lead your team. You also have the ability to pick and choose when you should fight with your ult, so don’t be shy with it.
