KAY/O VALORANT Guide

KAY/O VALORANT Guide

Overview

In some ways, KAY/O is the agent with the most similarities to the kind of kit you’d load in with on Counter-Strike -- he comes with a grenade and a couple of traditional flash bangs, which makes his playstyle pretty straight forward for anyone making the switch in games. As an initiator, he isn’t going to be as accurate as others in his role when it comes to securing information, but he brings strong utility nonetheless and can help set your team up for success.

Role: Initiator

Initiators can gain information on enemy position for your team and they can help flush enemies out of tight hiding spots.

On defense, their utility is used to gain information first and foremost, but they are also adept at supporting aggressive plays and retake scenarios.

On attack, their utility is used to clear tight angles and to make it harder for opponents to sit in expected defensive positions.

Tips and Tricks

  • ZERO/POINT [E] is typically used to get information on where enemies are. They’ll quickly adapt to you, though, and will try to wait out your knife going off before advancing. You can take advantage of this by changing the timing on your knife or by trying to walk up and take space if you think they’re sitting back to wait for it!

  • On offense, ZERO/POINT [E] can also be a great tool to disable enemy sentinel players. If you’re able to disable their setup, it can let your team flood the site extremely easily.

  • FRAG/MENT [C] is typically used to flush enemies out of corners or to delay a push. It This can be comboed with ZERO/POINT [E] to help you gain information on where enemies may be hiding.

  • FLASH/DRIVE [Q] is a very powerful flash and can be comboed with champions with high mobility to maximize it’s effectiveness. You can also hide behind an angle and flash out behind you with alternate fire to go for a kill. Alternatively, you can primary fire the flash against a wall to have it bounce off of it for a stronger flash.

  • You can use NULL/CMD [X] to be the main entry for your team -- this is especially effective against sentinel players who are relying too heavily on their set up for defensive purposes. It can also be used to delay an enemy push -- if you pop it while you’re rotating to help, it can help your teammates who are already defending on site.
