Overview
One of the most feast or famine champions in the game, Blitzcrank is a fearsome pick who often finds himself on ban lists just because people don’t want to deal with him. He’ll be as deadly as you are with aiming, as his Rocket Grab is one of the most game changing abilities in the game. Keys to Remember About Blitzcrank
The second worst thing that can happen to you is that you miss a hook. The worst thing is that you are too scared to even try. Just go for it. Blitzcrank is a champion meant for players who want to carry the game.
That said, you don't actually have to open with hook all the time. Blitzcrank can build up a lot of move speed and just run at someone as they try to zigzag to avoid the hook. Just run up and punch them first.
Strengths
Rocket Grab is one of the most impactful abilities in the game -- even when you account for ultimates -- and it’s just his Q! In the hands of a hot shooter, Blitzcranks that are able to consistently land Rocket Grabs onto key targets can single-handedly snowball or carry games even from difficult positions. All it takes is one momentary lapse from an enemy carry and suddenly they’re dead. This makes Blitzcrank one of the most lethal roamers early on in the game -- he can speed into the fray with Overdrive and very often force Flashes.
Weaknesses
Well, if you live by the hook, then it only makes sense for you to also die by the hook. If Blitzcrank misses his Rocket Grab, the extremely long cooldown will make him feel relatively worthless. His other abilities aren’t useless per se, but it’s the Rocket Grab that brings everything together. You basically have to find good hooks consistently, but it can be difficult into teams with lots of tanks or a lot of mobility to help them dodge the hook.
Game Plan
Early Game: The biggest weakness is when your hook is on cooldown, which means it can sometimes be okay to just hold it in your arsenal to threaten the opponents instead of throwing it out. That said, if you truly want to dominate, you need to land some hooks.
Mid Game: Not much changes in the mid game -- you should just be more active on the map at this point and continue to look for hooks.
Late Game: It’s beating a dead horse at this point, but it really comes down to hooks. Keep track of which enemy carries don’t have Flash and aim for them.
