Overview
One of the premier enchanters in the game, Janna is a ranged support champion that all your assassin friends love to hate. Few champions can ruin a bloodthirsty diver quite like Janna -- her kit brings shielding, CC, and healing. It’s everything you need to keep your team alive and your enemies thirsting for something… anything… just one kill please… Click here for the latest data on her best builds, including Runes, Items, Summoner Spells, and more.
Keys to Remember About Janna
- Contrary to her reputation for being a passive champion, Janna has a lot of potential as a lane bully and should be played aggressively early to maximize her abilities.
- She should be played and position like a hyper carry in that she's a backline champion that should do her best to to stay back so she can be a beacon for allies and keep them alive.
Strengths
Despite scaling really well into the late game thanks to the utility her kit provides, Janna is a champion that can also still excel in the early game. Zephyr is a very simple ability to use and is great at chunking out carries -- it’s also easy to get it off without too much fear of repercussion thanks to her inherent mobility and ability to peel with Howling Gale and Eye of the Storm. Come level 6, Monsoon being added to the above repertoire makes Janna and any allies near her extremely difficult to kill as long as you’re able to land your abilities.
Weaknesses
Without reliable sustain (sometimes it can be fine to ult just to heal), which many enchanter champions have, she can be a little susceptible to poke and extended trades that don’t result in a kill. You’ll want to rely more on hit-and-run tactics with Janna while dodging whatever may come your way. She is also extremely squishy, so if enemies are able to lock her down, she may sometimes die before even getting an ability off.
Game Plan
- Early Game: You’ll want to play aggressive with your range and Zephyr -- it’s very easy to chunk out enemy carries and supports in lane without much risk to yourself. Just remember to not take it too far -- you don’t have to kill an opponent to win the lane.
- Mid Game: Janna scales very well and should typically be playing to keep herself alive. As long as you are alive, it can go a long way to keep your allies up and running for as long as possible.
- Late Game: Big Howling Gales from Fog of War can help generate big picks for your team, but don’t go willy nilly with them unless you’re confident the enemy team cannot make use of that cooldown timing to jump on you. Unlike engage supports who can typically go in, blow their combo, and die, Janna is best when she’s able to stay alive for the entire length of the fight.
