Keys to Remember About Jax
Jax is a hyper carry that excels when you're able to Split Push properly -- if you just want to team fight all the time, there are going to be better options for you.
That said, team fighting properly with Jax will require you to be able to find angles to hit opponents from the flank. This means having good vision and being able to control jungle quadrants to be able to slip behind them unnoticed.
Strengths
Jax is one of the best split pushers in the game because he scales really well into late game -- very few champions will be able to stand up against him in a proper duel. And left alone, he’ll obliterate any defensive structures in his path. He’s not as strong in team fights but still brings some utility there thanks to Counter Strike being able to CC multiple enemies, and his mobility makes it fairly easy for him to reach the backline.
Weaknesses
Champions who can space properly and poke Jax down before an all-in takes place are going to be the most consistent way to properly defend against him. Split Pushing can typically be dealt with as long as the person being sent just sits under their turret, which means Jax will still need to group up multiple times throughout the game. In fights, he can be CCed and kept at bay -- combined with his kit being fairly straight forward, good players shouldn’t have too much of an issue keeping him at arm’s length.
Game Plan
Early Game: You can get good trades off with Counter Strike, but using that ability means your opponents are going to try to punish you while its on cooldown. In general, you should just aim to farm at this stage.
Mid Game: You should be looking to split push as much as possible -- just keep going to one of the side lanes to pressure the map unless your team needs to group at a neutral objective. For team fights, you’ll want to find ways to approach from the side or from behind.
Late Game: Split Pushing is your bread and butter -- take as many objectives as possible and draw enemy attention towards you so that your team can make use of the space elsewhere. If you have to team fight, you may need to time your Counter Strike well with a Flash or Leap Strike so that enemies can’t just dash away from it.
