Lux Build Guide

Lux

Lux

the Lady of Luminosity

Overview

Lux is a mage that’s not supposed to be a mage, at least if you’re keeping up with the lore on all things Demacia. She specializes in blasting opponents from very far away and is a safe pick when it comes to ensuring you do some damage in fights. Keys to Remember About Lux

  1. Being able to weave in auto-attacks between abilities is often the difference between winning or losing lane, but you can also just take the free poke damage from your spells without risking yourself by stepping into range for an auto-attack.

  2. Late game your ultimate is on such a short cooldown that you should be willing to fire it basically any time you land a good binding. You can also just fire it to clear a minion wave if your team needs you to buy time.

Strengths

Lux has great pick potential thanks to Light Binding -- if you’re able to hit opponents with this, which you will at one point or another, you can immediately follow it up with Lucent Singularity and Final Spark. It’s often enough to force opponents out of fights if not kill them entirely, depending on how fed you are and what stage of the game you’re in. These abilities also help Lux control space in the lane phase -- she can harass and threaten enemies with her array of spells.

Weaknesses

She’s extremely immobile and relies on being able to poke for a little bit to get the most out of her kit. Against teams that are able to instantly start a fight, her damage may feel lacking even if she manages to hit her entire combo, especially if she’s forced to use abilities on tanks. And because all of her abilities are skill shots, it can feel extra bad when you’re having a tough game and are also unable to land any abilities -- they’re fairly telegraphed and slow, so not the hardest for players to dodge.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: You’ll want to use your spells primarily to poke at enemy champions as they aren’t great for wave clearing early on. You can weave in auto attacks thanks to your passive to win a lot of trades.

  2. Mid Game: She is great at finding picks and should constantly be trying to fish for them with Light Binding -- always use Fog of War to your advantage and be ready to catch enemies as they step up too far.

  3. Late Game: You’ll want to continue looking for picks with Light Binding, but at this stage it can be just as dangerous for you to step forward. You have a lot of peel capability so it may be easier to just fight with your ADC at this point if they are strong instead of trying to blow up the enemy backline.
