Sett Build Guide

Sett

Sett

the Boss

Overview

If you just want to punch someone extremely hard, then Sett is your man. He’s a top lane bruiser who specializes in wrestling-like moves that allow him to win duels and create havoc in the midst of teamfights. He’s a champion with a strong early game who can still dish out a ton of damage as the game progresses. Keys to Remember About Sett

  1. Haymaker [W] can instantly turn around a fight for you between the big shield and the damage -- it's a great surprise tactic to bait enemies with if you are low on health.

  2. Facebreaker [E] works on minions as well as champions, which can make facing Sett in lane a tough proposition.

Strengths

Sett is a champion who should be happy to take extended trades thanks to his Pit Grit [P] and Knuckle Down [Q] -- this is buoyed by the fact that he is a manaless champion, which means he can grind down enemies in repeated trades or just commit to the all-in if needed. Being able to do both makes it very dangerous for enemies to fight him early, especially if he’s able to weave in and out of their abilities. The repeated chip damage sets up his Haymaker [W], which stores damage and then returns it to enemies, but it is something that is difficult for them to keep track of and can easily swing the fight in his favor thanks to the huge shield it provides along with the damage. This means he can use his Show Stopper [R] with impunity as he can jump right into the enemy lines and still have a means of survival.

Weaknesses

Outside of his ultimate, he just has to run at opponents, which means any ranged top laners who are adept at juggling him from a distance are going to give him a lot of problems. This extends into the mid and late game, where he’ll need to find flanks in order to get good value on his abilities. Otherwise, he’s going to be reliant on his ultimate to get close to enemies, and come late game, all it takes is one CC to lock him down and kill him before he’s even able to get his Haymaker [W] off.

Game Plan

  1. Early Game: He’s a strong early game champion and should look to trade consistently, especially if he’s able to land Facebreaker [E] to lock them in place.

  2. Mid Game: Sett has a lot of potential to carry fights in the mid game and should be looking to group for objectives whenever possible. His Show Stopper [R] is often going to be the signal for his team to start the fight.

  3. Late Game: At this point in the game, you’ll need to look for flanks to get the most value out of Sett, but it can be fine to just use Show Stopper [R] on their beefiest champion to help your team focus down their frontline.
